What is a Neuromodulator?
A neuromodulator is a substance that changes how nerves communicate with muscles or other nerves. In aesthetic medicine, neuromodulators are injectable treatments that temporarily relax specific muscles, helping to soften the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Results are temporary and can help create a smoother, more refreshed look while maintaining natural facial expression when administered appropriately.
What is the difference?
Botox:
An FDA approved injectable treatment that temporarily relaxes targeted facial muscles to reduce the appearance of fine lines and dynamic wrinkles.
Xeomin:
An FDA approved wrinkle relaxer that smooths fine lines and wrinkles by temporarily relaxing the muscles responsible for expression lines. Xeomin contains no unnecessary accessory proteins, making it a purified treatment option.
The biggest difference is how they are formulated. Both use botulinum toxin type A to temporarily relax the muscles.
Treatments are quick, minimally invasive, and require little to no downtime, making it perfect for busy schedules. Results starting as soon as 3-7 days after treatment, with full results appearing around 10-14 days. Treatments typically last 3-4 months.
